Earth Weaving Workshop
Bound by Nature: Weaving on Rocks
Commemorate the close of Usal’s SF Residency at The Last Straw with a hands-on keepsake that blends creativity, craft, and nature. Join us for an informal, drop-in style workshop where participants will learn how to create unique weavings on rocks — small, tactile works of art that embody the textures and spirit of the outdoors. Guided by Bhavani, the session will begin with a demonstration of foundational off-loom weaving techniques and terminology, followed by time for personal exploration and experimentation. Whether you’re an experienced maker or simply curious, this gathering offers a mindful and meditative way to connect with natural materials, celebrate community, and mark the end of our season together.

About
Bhavani Srinivas’ installations combine weaving, metalwork, electronics, and found material. Bhavani engages poetic double meanings and contradictory symbolisms to construct installations that shift between the registers of personal narrative, cultural phenomena, spirituality, and global history. Bhavani holds a BA in Art Practice from Princeton University and is currently an MFA candidate in Art Practice at UC Berkeley. They are a worker-owner of March April Studio, a community art and writing studio in Los Angeles, and she co-runs Corners cutoff, a small press publishing multi-lingual projects.
