Beeswax Candle Workshop

A Creative Beeswax Candle Experience

Step into the slow, meditative art of hand-dipping beeswax candles and awaken your creativity. In this immersive workshop, you’ll explore the traditional technique of hand-dipping while sculpting and shaping the wax into unique, personalized taper candles.
The workshop begins with an introduction to the rich heritage of beeswax candle-making and its use across cultures for light, ritual, and ambiance. Under guided instruction, you’ll learn the step-by-step process: warming the wax, dipping the wick, building layer upon layer, and finishing with subtle refinements. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you’ll have the opportunity to add your own creative touch from shaping curves, sculpting spirals, or experimenting with texture, all within a serene and supportive environment.
Each participant will leave with a set of personalized candles that bring warmth, light, and presence to their space or make thoughtful gifts. Every piece carries a sense of ritual, care, and intention, making the process as meaningful as the result.
To honor the precious nature of beeswax and sustainable craft, leftover wax will be re-melted and thoughtfully re-purposed for future workshops.

About

Gabrielle is a Los Angeles–based candlemaker whose practice centers on the sensory and ritual qualities of light. Through her candle work with Moss, she explores the meditative process of hand-dipping as both craft and contemplation, studying texture, form, and presence, grounded in sustainability, slowness, and sensory connection. Her approach to candle-making is informed by an ecological sensitivity, using natural materials, embracing cyclical production, and honoring the lifespan of every element involved. Her workshops honor traditional methods while encouraging creative experimentation. Gabrielle is deeply interested in how material practices shape atmosphere and emotion, weaving together themes of ritual, ecology, and memory to create moments of stillness and reflection. In addition to her studio practice, Gabrielle has worked extensively as a creative producer and DJ, collaborating with institutions including DUBLAB, LACMA, Hammer Museum, The Getty, MOCA, and the Music Center. These experiences continue to inform her sensitivity to space, rhythm, and mood.
