About

Stoney Point is a local crag for Los Angeles climbers with a bit of a historic significance. Stoney Point was one of the first bouldering areas anywhere, paving the way for many of America's first rock climbing legends. Since the 1930s and onwards, Stoney Point has been a training ground and site for pioneering California's climbing techniques.
The rock itself is sandstone. At its best, the rock is fine grained and quite compact, which makes it very kind on the hands and enables long bouldering sessions. The area is mostly for bouldering but has a top-rope sections.
