New York
Day Hike Series: Sugar Loaf Hill
Usal New York Hike Series
In this installment of our Day Hike Series, we’ll explore the Hudson Highlands. Journeying north to Garrison, we’ll step directly off the train and onto a 6-mile custom loop with 912 ft of elevation gain.
This route begins with flat paths along the Hudson River, weaving through the Open Space Conservancy before climbing Sugar Loaf Hill. Along the way, we’ll catch glimpses of summer shifting toward fall — an easy reminder of the city-to-trail rhythm that defines life here, where fresh air and wide views are an easy train ride away.
This is a community-focused hike designed to bring together those craving movement, connection, and fresh air. Expect a mellow but invigorating pace, great company, and a chance to unplug with fellow nature-minded folks.
Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just getting started, this route offers a perfect mid-distance loop with rewarding vistas and a strong sense of escape.
