Cooking with Fire: A Summer Gathering
Spend the afternoon learning the art of fire cooking with Chef Thomas in the hills of Malibu. During this 6-hour hands-on class, you’ll master the fundamentals of cooking over an open flame—from building and managing the fire to preparing seasonal meals with smoke, char, and coals.
Together we’ll prepare a full feast using fire-based techniques and vibrant summer ingredients. By the end of the day, you’ll walk away confident in your ability to cook with live fire—and we’ll all share a beautiful meal that we created from scratch.

What To Expect
We’ll cook together, learn together, and end the day gathered around a communal table to enjoy the full feast we’ve prepared by hand. This is more than a class—it’s an immersive experience rooted in intention, seasonality, and connection.
Throughout the day, Chef Thomas will guide you through fire-building techniques, cooking demonstrations, and hands-on preparation of each dish. You’ll get your hands dirty and your senses ignited—feeling the heat of the flame, smelling the smoke and char, and tasting vibrant, fire-cooked flavors.
Expect time to slow down. Between cooking sessions, we’ll take in the sweeping Malibu views, take a farm tour, and enjoy good conversation. We’ll close the experience with a sunset meal shared under the open sky—celebrating not just what we made, but how we made it: together, over fire.

- Seared local rockfish, cooked over coals
- Coal-roasted beets, smashed with olive oil and herbs
- Crispy fire-roasted smashed potatoes in cast iron
- Smoked cabbage slaw with burnt citrus dressing
- Chimichurri sauce with garden herbs
- Spiced yogurt sauce with garlic and sumac
