Gorp Girls Backpacking Trip - Jennie Lakes
Join The Gorp Girls for a Two day, Three night all-girls backpacking Trip in the Sierras. Named after Jennie Ellis, a mountaineer's wife, Jennie Lakes Wilderness in Sequoia National Forest has 10,500 acres and 26 miles of hiking trails, with four of those routes venturing south to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. This place is blooming with wildflowers, alpine lakes (Jennie Lake being the largest) and pine forests. This 17.5 mile loop will take us to Jennie and Weaver lakes.
This trip is open to beginner backpackers, but you should be comfortable hiking with a full pack and spending multiple nights in the wilderness.

What to Bring
- Bear Can required
- Snacks – Bring your favorite trail snacks to keep your energy up between meals (think: bars, trail mix, dried fruit, jerky).
- Meals – Two dinners, three breakfasts, Two Lunches
- Hiking Footwear – Comfortable, broken-in hiking boots or trail shoes with good traction.
- Clothing – Weather-appropriate layers including a warm jacket, rain shell, moisture-wicking base layers, and extra socks.
- Lightweight Bowl + Utensils – For eating meals at camp (spork or spoon, bowl or collapsible container).
- Water – At least 2 liters of personal water-carrying capacity (bottles, bladder, or both).
- Sunscreen – High SPF recommended for protection at elevation.
- Toiletries – Essentials only: toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable wipes, and any personal medications.
