New York
Harvest Basket Weaving
Join Usal and Craft Society for a winter evening of basket weaving rooted in traditional plaited techniques and slow, attentive making. Together, we’ll work with natural materials to create medium-sized baskets designed with the winter harvest in mind, perfect for holding greens, persimmons, and pomegranates.
This workshop is both practical and meditative. You’ll be guided step by step through the weaving process, learning the structure, rhythm, and purpose behind each movement while leaving room for personal expression. As hands stay busy, the pace softens, inviting focus, conversation, and a deeper connection to the materials.
No prior weaving experience is required. This is an evening to learn a time-honored craft, gather in community, and leave with an object made to be used, carried, and lived with through winter and beyond.

About
Craft Society is a creative duo aiming to make heritage art and craftwork accessible to young New Yorkers. The duo met in April 2024 at a mutual friend’s birthday party on a trampoline and instantly meshed. As if it were fate, they discovered they shared the same Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood. That week, they met over pancakes and Craft Society was born!
