Beginner Backpacking Trip – Belle Canyon

A Beginner-Friendly adventure into the high alpine.

We will be hiking the Belle Canyon Trail in the High Sierra, spending the first night camping near the trailhead to allow people plenty of time to join us on Friday afternoon or even Saturday morning if needed. After a warm breakfast on Saturday, we will leave the cars, hiking 6.6mi up through the high alpine to reach our home for the night–Seville Lake. After enjoying an afternoon basking in the sun and swimming in the lake, we’ll cook a hearty camp dinner and get some sleep for our final day of hiking. On Sunday, we’ll pack up camp and head back to the trailhead, descending back to our cars to return home. This is a co-ed trip that will provide a space for people to explore the mountains, swim in lakes, and have a weekend to disconnect with technology and reconnect with nature. We will be hiking slowly, taking time to identify flora, fauna, and everything around us. This will be a beginner trip where everyone is welcome, regardless of any previous backpacking experience
This coed backpacking trip welcomes all levels. We’ll move at a comfortable pace, pausing to observe wildflowers, wildlife, and the quiet beauty around us. Join us to unplug from technology and reconnect with nature, your senses, and a like-minded community.
Our route follows the Robinson Creek Trail in the High Sierra. On Friday evening, we’ll set up camp at the serene Barney Lake. Saturday, we’ll continue deeper into the mountains, climbing toward Crown Lake for our second night under the stars. On Sunday, we’ll hike back out to the trailhead and head home—rested, reconnected, and full of trail memories.
The total journey covers 17 miles with approximately 2,800 feet of elevation gain, most of it spread across the first two days.
