Japanese Tea Tasting
A Story of Lineage & Innovation
Usal and Gentle Artefacts host an afternoon tea tasting exploring the evolving world of Japanese tea.
You’ll move through a curated progression of 10 teas, from traditional preparations to more experimental expressions, including sparkling and sake-based pours, experiencing how lineage and innovation exist side by side.
Along the way, we’ll explore how farming techniques, climate, craftsmanship, and modern creativity shape what ends up in your cup. The tasting features several award-winning teas from Matsushita Tea Garden, a family-run organic farm in Shizuoka, Japan, founded in 1915.

About
Gentle Artefacts is a Japanese tea brand cultivated in Kyoto and curated in Brooklyn, reimagining a world of gentle living shaped by the collaborative efforts of tea agriculturalists, anthropologists, and contemporary artisans. Founded by creative Sabrina Li and cultural ethnographer Gabriel Coren, the project grew from their journeys in Japan and the close relationships they formed with tea producers and craft makers. More than a tea company, Gentle Artefacts is an ongoing practice in reconnecting people with ritual, intention, and the landscapes that sustain us—values that Sabrina and Gabriel bring forward as guides in this workshop.
