Natural Spoon Carving
Learn to Whittle with Intention
Learn how to make a wooden spoon while reaping the healing benefits and wisdom that come from spending time immersed in the wild. In this workshop you will learn how to mindfully harvest wood from the forest, design and carve your own spoon. What follows is not merely craft, but a ritual of connection— a spoon carved by your own hands, born from wood you’ve harvested in reverence. As you shape the spoon, the forest shapes you. Learn to whittle with intention, using hand tools as a pathway into creativity, contemplation and nature-reconnection.

About
Reet (pronounced Rhett) is a Latinx ecopscyhologist, wilderness guide, song carrier, yoga teacher, creative writer, and therapist in training facilitating nature-reconnection for the reciprocal healing of both humans and the wild. Reet completed her Masters in Ecopsychology at Naropa University and has been weaving this body of work in her life since, specifically working as a wilderness therapy guide and wilderness rites of passage guide. The practices and rituals she offers are meant to inspire individuals to connect with both inner and outer nature, the spirit of the earth, and human animals in an intentional way.

What's Included
We’ll provide all the essential tools and comforts you need to fully immerse yourself in the craft, including sharp hook knives for hollowing and shaping your spoon bowls, traditional Swedish carving knives for precise, safe wood carving, and hand saws for processing and sizing your wood blanks. We’ll also have a warm herbal infusion to sip on during the session — a small ritual to slow down, stay present, and enjoy the process of carving by hand.
