Usal x Snow Peak: Paper Lantern Making Workshop
Paper Lantern Making with Craft Society
Join Usal and Craft Society for an intimate evening where you'll craft your own paper lantern at Snow Peak Brooklyn.
Step into the glow of an evening workshop where paper, wire, and a little imagination come together. Inspired by Japanese and Korean lantern traditions, you’ll shape mulberry paper—known for its strength and soft luminosity—over sculptural frames to create your own one-of-a-kind light.
This isn’t about perfection; it’s about process. The crinkle of the washi paper in your hands, the rhythm of bending wire, the quiet hum of a shared table—all adding up to a lantern that’s uniquely yours.
You’ll leave with more than a functional lamp. You’ll leave with not only a functional lamp but, also a handmade reminder of how simple materials, a little patience, and community can brighten a space.

ABOUT
Craft Society is a creative duo aiming to make art and craftwork accessible to New Yorkers. The duo met in April 2024 at a mutual friend’s birthday party on a trampoline and instantly meshed. As if by fate, they discovered they shared the same Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood. That week, they met over pancakes and Craft Society was born!
What's Included
Everything you need to bring your lantern to life: wire, pliers, Japanese mulberry paper, glue, and a lighting kit. You’ll also have hands-on guidance to help you shape and assemble your design.
What To Bring
Clothing you don’t mind getting a little glue on and a few ideas or inspiration for the shape you want your lantern to take.
