Is a part of our ideal set of weekend experiences! Run, Art and community! Join us for a community mix terrain run with Dust 2:30pm–4pm. After we will kick off the closing reception of Natalie Klapper's exhibition at The Last Straw titled Open Sky. Gathering at The Last Straw will take place 2pm–8pm. Running is optional, hanging out MANDATORY!
Wine by and poured by Riot Vino, neighborhood bites (Hook Fish, Leo's Taco Truck) are all within walking distance of the shop. Hang out in our yard and mingle until the sun goes down. After we will take people to the beach for a bonfire.

About the afternoon and hosts:
Dust is a world built by, with, and for people who live outside. We make apparel for running, traveling, and exploring, but clothing is only one part of the story. Born from long days in the American West, Dust is shaped by a culture of dirt roads, mountain towns, public lands, and the belief that the best days rarely go according to plan. Dust exists for the same reason we hit the trail in the first place: to feel alive, stay curious, and keep moving through the world.
Dust will lead a community run, 5-8 miles mixed terrain, multiple pace groups and a no drop and social. The run will start and end at The Last Straw. Approximate run time is 2:30pm–4pm.

Natalie Klapper, Open Sky at The Last Straw
Open Sky is SF based artist, Natalie Klapper's first solo with the gallery. The days activities coincide with the closing of her exhibition.
For this exhibition Klapper turned her attention to the human drive to create, a force she sees as responsible for both civilization’s great inventions and its enduring art, and one she feels deeply personally. In this exhibition Klapper works primarily in machined aluminum and swarf, the metal chips left behind by CNC machining. It’s material that she has sourced from shops making parts for satellites and bicycles, and that she first encountered discarded in recycling bins at a machine shop where she once worked.
In pieces like her Chamfered Panel Series, precision-cut aluminum blocks reference the ornamental moldings of Victorian architecture, a nod to her own San Francisco neighborhood, recast in a material that reads as futuristic, even though, she points out, the Victorian architecture also relied on similar manufacturing methods and catalog-style customization. Elsewhere, loose chips of swarf are arranged into cloud and night-sky paintings, their scattering left partly to chance; bronze castings of flowers, intentionally imperfect and handworked, sit in quiet tension with the machined precision around them.
