New York
Usal & Public Records – Mud Dance
Usal & Public Records Present Living Things Series.
Living Things is a four-part series that brings the wild back into the city. Hosted in The Nursery at Public Records, each gathering is an invitation to explore how nature is not something separate from us—it’s something we can grow, build, and live with, even in a place like New York City. This is about more than plants; it’s about being in relationship with the living world.
Part 3 is a MUD DANCE - a participatory clay hand-building workshop set to a live DJ set. Led by ceramicist Stefanie Guerrero and DJ Daren Conui, guests will use foraged natural materials to imprint raw clay and shape it into a one-of-a-kind piece, which will be glazed and fired after the workshop. Immersed in a curated sonic landscape, the experience blends rhythm, ritual, and the ancient act of making into a dance with the earth.

What To Expect
We’ll begin with a 15-minute guided clay meditation. Eyes closed, the cool weight of raw clay in your palms, you’ll be led through a series of prompts that awaken you to the depths of your senses and connect you to the day’s medium, to nature, and to yourself. Here, we sculpt with intuition, letting the clay guide your hands, and drop the impulse to control.

About STEFANIE
